Folio 188. Letter dated at Torgo [Torgau, Germany] from General Schoning to the King. Thanks the King for his letter, and says he would have written sooner, if he had not waited until he could tell him something positive about what the Elector, his master, might do in this campaign; matters have been slow on the side of the Imperial Court rather than theirs. His master has relinquished his rightful claims to such an extent that they flatter themselves that they will receive a favourable response from Vienna. Assures the King that his master is motivated only by the desire to do what is best for the public good, provided he can retain the means to be able to subsist equally with the others who are marching.
