Folios 186-187. Letter dated at Malines [Mechelen] from Count de Solms to the King. Is sending Lieutenant-General Talmash towards Flanders. Awaits the movements of the enemy. Hopes to discuss affairs with Mons. Dyckvelt, including horses and artillery of which they no longer have any there, and notes that if they could be sure that the enemy would leave them in peace for four more weeks they could benefit the King by a considerable sum. Reports that the Brigadier Ellenberg has received news from Denmark regarding recruits, but bemoans that they would arrive very late. State of the various regiments and concerns regarding potential desertions. Encloses a memorandum on the state of the Dutch infantry. [Post-script: He has just heard that the French King will leave on 10 May from Versailles, but that his trip will be very short.]
