Folios 138-141. Letter dated at Maastricht from the Prince of Waldeck to the King. Encloses a dispatch stating what preparations will be necessary for an intended siege. Horses must be found for the English artillery. In the event of a siege they will need a large provision of forage to feed the cavalry during the siege for the reasons known to the King. The enclosed disposition regarding the horses does not seem practicable to him, and as he understands this is also the view of the King, Monsieur Doop will follow the Count of Solms to confer with the Spanish on this subject. The Baron of Hayde is joining General Flemming at the Hague and the Prince of Waldeck doubts that his master will leave the troops that are with the Spanish separated from his army. It seems that the cavalry Regiments in Namur have orders to stand ready to march on the first orders of Monsieur de Chauvet and Waldeck awaits orders from the King on this topic. Marshall Schoning complains greatly of the Imperial Court; if they cannot hold on to Count Tserclaes matters in Liege will go poorly.
