The Social Mobility Commission (SMC) is an independent statutory body. It is a continuation of the body previously known as the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission. The purpose of the SMC is to promote social mobility, conducting and publishing research on social mobility and providing advice to the government on how to improve social mobility.
