Folios 198-201. 'Project des Espagnols' submitted to the King. The Marquis de Gastanaga wishes to second the King's plans as to the safety of various countries under the protection of the Allies and submits arrangements as to the troops: (1) for the seven infantry battalions, three cavalry battalions and a dragoon regiment of the Elector of Brandenburg to remain in the Provinces to serve as troops of the King [for the specified duration of the treaty]; (2) Each of the said corps will be made complete within two months of 15 November 1691; (3) a review of these troops to take place after that date with adjustment of the subsidy accordingly; (4) financial compensation for the Elector in respect of these troops; (5) forage and grain for the said troops and horses; (6 & 7) accommodation; (8) payment of a monthly subsidy during the six months of winter; (9) Settlement or arbitration [by the King?] of sums claimed and counter-claimed by the Elector and the Marquis of Gastanaga; (10) provision for the two infantry and two cavalry regiments to be lodged that winter in Limburg; (11) the cashing of a letter of change for 100,000 patagons to be applied against the sums due to the Elector; (12) warranty of the good order of the troops, failing which any claims made against them to be at the expense of the Elector; (13) limitations on the scope of authority/powers of the troops in the relevant provinces; (14) Duration of the treaty to be six months commencing [15 December 1691]; (15) the treaty of 7 September 1690 to remain in force; (16) Ratification of the treaty within two months of signature.
