Folios 196-197. The Prince of Waldeck to the King, dated at the Hague. Waldeck sees from the King's latest letter that hope is lost of seeing the Danish troops so soon by the Meer. The three regiments of cavalry have arrived in good condition. The Counsellor Pensionary knows of no expedient to conserve the companies which are being sent to the repartition of Groningen, but the loss of these troops will have a negative effect on the spirit of the people. The Counsellor Pensionary cannot also see a way to get troops from elsewhere. Refers to the break down of the Emperor's negotiations for the troops of Saxe-Gotha Speaks of the troops of Saxe-Gotha, begs the King to advise him on whom to address on this topic. In the state of affairs existing at present, the enemy keeps them in continual alarm. The Prince of Vaudemont is at Namur and has asked for artillery and munitions, which the States General have granted. The behaviour of the Marquis of Gastanaga is far from satisfactory, and they anxiously await the news as to who is to be appointed in his place.
