Folios 176-179. Memorandum by Col. Dopft. Huy, Namur and the country round, have been visited to assess their readiness for the campaign, notably the fortification of the castle at Huy, the roads between Huy and Namur, the works and fortifications (old and new) at Namur. Complains of the lack of progress at Namur, and the lack of care taken by the Governor who allows great familiarity with those who come and go to Dinant, moving freely with passports and escorted by order of the Governor to a location where they encounter French parties. Counsel has been taken with the Prince of Barbancon about the roads and fortifications, noting that he seems little concerned about the good of the place. The Baron de Berse also complains of him delaying and obstructing necessary activities for the good of the place; has been making all the preparations he can. The magazines and powder are in charge of a citizen who does not take sufficient precautions in guarding them. The cavalry have no hay, or money with which to get it; this will need to be remedied or the horses will die. The enemy have magazines all along the Meuse, and they may need to do likewise.
