Folios 141-142. Information about the Ottoman Court, and the alliance between France and Turkey. The writer acknowledges receipt of a letter of 3 October, dated at Adrianople [Edirne], and understood the state of affairs and change that has arisen at the Ottoman Court since the departure of the Count de Marsigly, of which they learned the unfortunate adventures either from him or by other correspondence. He refers to the many ruses of the French, and does not understand how the Ottoman Court always lets itself be taken in by them; that they are the only ones not to see that they are being sacrificed by the French to divide their enemy powers. Refers to the Emperor's sentiments regarding the wars with France and the Ottomans, and the desire of the Emperor to be rid of 'this war' to be able with even more effective forces to act against France. Provides directions for peace negotiations with the Ottomans, and directs the recipient to the Count of Marsigly to whom the writer has imparted all information necessary.
