Folios 136-137. Copy of the letter from the Count de Solms to the Prince of Waldeck, dated at Malines. Sends this by a special messenger, in order that the Prince may have the information he asks for as soon as possible. The Spaniards are ready, in case of need, to provide 2,000-2,5000 waggons, but are unable to provide a list of these and raised some other issues. Without these wagons they are unable to make any movements. Refers to the question of passports, which is not resolved with respect to horses but believes will be changed with respect to enemy officers. There is only one magazine in Namur, which is not big enough as there are more cavalry there than had been expected at the start; at Huy and Liege the magazines were progressing quite well. M de Dyckvelt had written to the Council of State about the magazine for Flanders and they had said they would take care of it themselves - he fears it may not be well done or in time. The Prince of Vaudemont has been unable to visit Namur yet, but plans to go the day after next; accordingly matters there are still in the same state i.e. lacking almost everything needed. The Prince of Vaudemont had indicated that he had had no money either for the things needed, nor for the trip, and that without first having this money his trip would have been useless. Count of Solms fears the impact of these delays. It is not clear that Charleroi is the real target of the enemy as all their preparations are being undertaken on the Meuse, though they may seek to target both Namur and Charleroi at the same time. The uncertainty around the enemy plans means they must be on high alert everywhere, and are stretched despite the large numbers of their troops. [N.B. possibly page[s] missing as the letter ends mid-sentence?].
