Description

Folios 60-61. Count Schonenberg to the King. Touching his negotiations with the King of Spain covering the approval of the arrangements discussed between the Marquis of Gastanaga and the two princes regarding the retention of the troops of Brandenburg and Zell. Advises that the King [Carlos II of Spain?] informed him that he had spoken personally to the Marquis de los Balbaces to negotiate a draft [bill of exchange?] for 100,000 [Ryerd.?]; believes that this must surely have been sent to the Marquis of Gastanaga for the whole amount to be used to satisfy the remaining debt due to the Brandenburg and Zell troops. Refers to another contract of one million pesos for Flanders and the need to await the arrival of galleons to make arrangements work. The King [of Spain?] is seeking to do all that is practicable to smoothe out the close and sincere friendship with the King.
