Folios 157-158. A letter from Maximilian Emmanuel, Elector of Bavaria, to the King, dated at Munich. Acknowledges receipt of the King's letter of 8 June and excuses being unable to reply in his own hand owing to fever. This now being in decline he hopes it will not prevent him leading the troops due to go to Piemont; he assures the King that his troops are for the most part marching there with the Imperial troops, such that they should be the first there. His concern is to rescue his cousin the Duke of Savoy as soon as possible, whose capital is in danger of being besieged by an army believed to be bigger than his. He regrets any delay, caused principally by the slow march of the Saxony troops, and requests assurance of reinforcements from Brandenburg and Hesse in case of need, as agreed at the Hague. Proposes arrangements for communication between them from The Hague, to the Swiss border, to Piemont.
