Folio 146. A letter from the Prince of Waldeck to the King, dated at Anderlecht. The enemy is camped at Halle. They have occupied the Chateau de Berse [Beersel?] and are fortifying it but Halle is razed. The way things are they will struggle if they are not in a state to press the enemy, which could be better explained verbally than in writing. The Elector of Brandenburg will shout about his troops after, with reason, but they cannot do without them there and don't have any to replace them with unless it is after a conjunction with the Count Tserclaes, by three battalions of Namur and one of Maastricht, albeit when the ammunition arrives it should be put at Maastricht as it would not be right to leave such an important place undefended. He warns the King that his head is starting to go and his judgment is challenged. The Count of Tilly with six regiments and three Regiments of English have joined him.
