Folios 136-137. A letter from Maximilian Emmanuel, Elector of Bavaria, to the King, dated at Chateau de Liechtenberg. Thanks the King for his letter of 14 May telling him of his happy return to The Hague. Expresses his belief that the King's presence will prompt an operation on that side, and the slowness of the Saxony troops in Piemont displeasing him greatly. The King will no doubt have learned from Baron Goertz of the delay in execution. He acknowledges receipt via his envoy in The Hague of a letter of change for 30,000 ecus by which the King augmented the first 100,000. Reports news from the Count Caprara from the Upper Rhine where he has assembled troops, since according to all reports the enemy is making great preparations for some enterprise. Caprara also sent him the enclosed letter from Strasbourg, which was perhaps divulged intentionally by the enemy to mislead them.
