Folio 124. A letter from the Prince of Waldeck to the King, dated at Halle. News from the Prince of Vaudemont means he will have to assemble troops in part near St Trond and in part around Brussels. He does not know how to manage the English troops as the Count of Solms has written to the King. He sees no possibility of crossing Brussels with the troops that are in the quarters there, is finding things difficult in all manner of ways, and the Spanish cavalry is not in a fit state. The Count of Solms is leaving to find the King, taking a route by the Hague. Offensive measures cannot be taken before the defensive is assured, which cannot be done without the King's orders.
