HO 42/3/118
1783
Folios 336-339. The Earl of Newburgh seeks permission to present a petition to the House of Commons to rectify his status. He was born in France in 1725 to the Countess of Newburgh and Charles Radclyffe who was attainted of high treason in 1725 despite being only 19 years of age. The Radclyffe estates were forfeited and the Earl has been prevented from reclaiming at least some of them by the fact that he is regarded as a Alien.
