Folios 167-169. Letter from Lord Sydney to the King mainly giving an account of his interview with Mr Pen [William Penn] regarding an alleged plot against the King. King Louis of France, King James and Lord Preston are mentioned. The remainder of the letter covers the reaction to the removal of Major Wildman [Sir John Wildman] from his post [as Postmaster General] and his replacement by Sir Robert Cotton and [Thomas] Frankland. Sydney comments that Lord Marlborough 'is now pretty diligent and seldom fails the Committees' and Lord Godolphin 'does not come often but he has a good excuse for it which is the Treasury'.
