Folios 157-158. Letter dated at Hanover from Ernest Auguste Duke of Brunswick and Luneberg to the King. Thanks the King for his letter, and assures him that his zeal for his service is as great, if not greater, than ever. This being so, he feels very deeply not being able to respond to the propositions made to him by Baron de Heckeren as he would have wished; he gave the Baron his reasons and begged him to relay them to the King.
