Folio 140. Letter from Lord Godolphin to the King about his proposed retirement of which he says 'how long my natural temper and inclination will suffer me to remain in [it] I cannot be answerable for, till I have tried it' but chiefly commenting on the three things the King had mentioned in his letter to the Queen namely providing money to be sent to Ireland; making an alteration in the excise; and 'sending into the City to borrow money'. The efforts to break the tally trade are beginning to take effect and there is reason to hope still more money will be lent in the succeeding weeks.
