Folios 179-180A: H Stanger, [13] Clement's Inn, [Strand]. Agents for Lieutenant William Ferris. Covering letter for letter from Rear Admiral Sir John Thomas Duckworth appointing him to command HMS Drake and request this be confirmed,
Folios 181-182: enclosures with folios 179-180A. Letter dated 29 October 1801 by Rear Admiral Sir John Thomas Duckworth, [HMS Leviathan], to Lieutenant William Ferris. Lieutenant William Ferris hereby appointed Commander of HMS Drake in the vacancy of Captain William Garnier of HMS Southampton deceased.
