Folios 310-311. An unsigned letter [from Queen Mary II] to the King [William III], dated at Whitehall [Middlesex]. Welcomes William's letter of 10 [July 1690] reporting that he'd passed the Shannon [River] but expresses concerns that the enemy might still fight even if it has 'once more run away from you'. The Queen advises that [the Paymaster-General William] Harbord [Harboard] has written to Sir R [Robert] Southwell, advising how much people love her in Holland [Netherlands], but she reflects unfavourably upon different attitudes in England. Raises Lord Harding's ambitions to hold the custos rotulorum [for Somersetshire] which has so long been in his family, advising that he is now willing to hold the Lord Lieutenancy too. The Queen met the commissioners of the Admiralty today. Lord Marlborough desires her to choose two admirals out of the four nominations made, namely Churchill, Elmore, Sir [blank] Wheeler and Mitchel [Mitchell]; and the Lord President [Lord Carmarthen] also proposes 'one Carter'. Recalls Mr [Edward] Russell's views. Concludes with personal endearments.
