Folio 150. Copy of a letter from Resident Ham to the Prince of Waldeck from Nuys. Reports pleasure at the news received from Waldeck in his letter of 1 July 1689, namely that Marshall d'Humieres and Calvo had retreated and had divided the army, and queries whether d'Humieres had detached all or part of the King's house towards the middle or lower Rhine i.e. to understand more precisely the troop numbers and destination. If the French troops are coming towards them, this would serve to accelerate their march towards the Meuse. They are pushing the destruction of the Bonn fort and bombardment of the town as much as possible, and are seeking confirmation from M. de Swarts of whether he will alow them to use the troops under him for the blockade of Nuys and to protect Colloigne [Cologne] from invasion. Discussion of troop numbers and locations.
