Folios 62-63. Count Flodroff to the Prince of Waldeck. Measures proposed and considerations arising for the defence of Liege, including: (1) to place the camp south of the Meuse (rejected by Waldeck as impractical in a marginal note); (2) the terrain on the approach to Liege and of the Marquisat de Franchimont is not as represented, with the latter able to be defended by the peasants occupying it (observed by Waldeck in a marginal note to be the consequence of relying on ears rather than eyes, it would have been better not to have forced the declaration of the Bishop of Liege for the allies, for they are now engaged in a difficult and inefficient defence of the Liegois); (3) The Messrs of Liege do not know their own country, having let the Chateau de Monjardin - one of the best they have - be taken by surprise by the French.
