The Office for Legal Complaints and the Legal Ombudsman was established under the Legal Services Act 2007 to ensure users of legal services could go to an independent and impartial Ombudsman scheme to resolve disputes involving their lawyer.
On 1 July 2009, the OLC was officially established with the OLC Board members formally appointed. The Office opened on 6 October 2010.
