Folios 205-206. Major Charles Craven writes from Dunleer, Ireland, to seek recompense for ill usage by senior officers, principally General Shirley, who did not pay for the work done in building forts to protect the Oneida Carry [an important link on the trade route between the Atlantic Seaboard of North America and the interior]. Craven had to use £400 of his own money to pay the men and he has never been reimbursed. Nor has he been advanced in his career and he now seeks either reimbursement or advancement, or an appointment as Master of the Royal Hospital at Kilmainham, near Dublin.
