Folios 176-177; 179-180. Lt Colonel Tarleton requests a passage to America for Captain Hovenden. He is obliged to make this request as his regiment is a corps on the provincial establishment of America. Folio 179 is a further request that some means may be found to enable his officers on leave in England to have access to their pay. Provincial regiments have no agent in England and officers normally draw their pay in America.
