Folios 303-304. Letter from Lord Marlborough to the King that he has done his best with the officers to find recruits for Ireland but most of them think it impossible to get the number required; that every day he has spoken to 'Lord G' [?Godolphin] about the what the King has commanded but with no success other than to make 'Lord G' melancholy. Churchill requests that the King write to Lord G telling him that he has so much personal kindness for him that he (the King) deserves better than that Lord G should abandon him at this time when the King is in most need of his service.
