Folios 98-99. Letter dated at 'Our Court at Dublin' from King James to Sir Donald McDonel [MacDonald] of Slate [Sleat] concerning the death of Viscount Dundee [John Graham of Claverhouse, principal Jacobite commander in the Highlands], who Is sending his son the Duke of Berwick to their aid 'as soon as the season will permit the shipping of any number of horses [to Scotland[, in the meanwhile he will send the Earl of Seaforth 'to head his friends and followers'. Above all else the King recommends 'a thorough union amongst yourselves and a due obedience to your superior officers'.
