Part 2, Folios 95-96. A letter [?from the Bishop of Ely, Francis Turner] to 'your Highness' [the Prince of Orange] concerning Lord Halifax's appointment, with Lord Nottingham and Lord Godolphin, as commissioners from the King [James II] to the Prince. The writer advised Halifax, and his lordship agreed, not to seek such a compromise as would impede the progress [of the invading Dutch army reaching London]. The letter is carried by Mr Richard Uphill his wife's brother, a cornet of horse in the King's army.
