Description

Folios: 442v-443. Charters of kings. Licence to John, bishop of Lincoln [John Gynewell], and others about a feoffment to be made by them about manors, etc, to William, count of Henhaud [Hainault] and Maud, his wife.

First party: Edward III.

Second Party: John, bishop of Lincoln, Robert de la Mare, John de Bukland, John Charnels, Walter Power, Simon Symeon and John Neumarche.

Place or Subject: The king grants licence to the bishop and the others that they can give and grant to William, count of Henhaud [Hainault] and earl of Leycestre [Leicester] and Maud, his wife, daughter and one of the heirs of Henry, late duke of Lancaster, the manors of Gymyngham [Gimingham], Thefford [Thetford], Methewold [Methwold] and Tunsted [Tunstead] and the hundreds of Galhowe [Gallow] and Brothercors [Brothercross] with appurtenances, and 39 fees and a fourth part of one knight's fee with appurtenances in Canefeld, Bysten atte Mount, Hanton, Berewyk [Barwick], Creyk [Creake], Waterdene [Waterden], Snyterle [Snitterley], Barsham, Sidesterne [Sidestrand], Wyveton [Wiveton], Salthus [Salthouse], Gresham, Aylmerton, Clopton, Fyncheham [Fincham], Northwald [Northwold], Feltewell [Feltwell], Roukelond [Rockland], Middelton [Middleton], Estrudham [East Rudham], Westrudham [West Rudham], Salhaydon, Kerdeston [Kerdiston], Wodedallyng [Wood Dalling], Repam [Reepham], Bergh, Hegheton, Rougham, Fransham, Westyng Toftes [West Tofts], Croxton, Gresynghale [Gressenhall], Lexham, Elsyng [Elsing], Wesenham [Weasenham], Taverham, Drayton, Swynynton, Alderford, Lyneford [Lynford], Grymeston [Grimston], Congham, Bykeston [Bixton] in Goldesthorp, Stanfeld [Stanfield], Briseleye [Brisley], Bulneye, Titeleshale [Tittleshall], West Lexham, Skernyng [Scarning] and Hoo, Norf, and two knights' fees with appurtenances in Westfeld [Westerfield] and Brantham, Suff, and the advowsons of the abbey of Marham, the priory of the canons of Thefford [Thetford], the hospital of the Maison Dieu of Thefford [Thetford], the hospital of St Mary Magdalene of Thefford [Thetford], and the hospital of St John of Thefford [Thetford], and the advowson of the churches of Southreppes [South Repps], Northreppes [North Repps], Trymyngham [Trimingham], Munesle [Mundesley], Ekyesthorp [Edingthorpe], Bradefeld [Bradfield], Swathefeld [Swafield] and Beston [Beeston], and of a moiety of the church of Aylmerton, Norf, which are held of the king in chief.
