Folios: 441-441v. Charters of kings. Inspeximus by Edward III of a charter of Henry III, his great-grandfather, dated at Kenillewurth [Kenilworth] on 12 July 50 Hen. III, made to Edmund his son [Edmund of Lancaster].
First party: Edward III.
Second Party: Henry, earl of Lancaster, son and heir of the said Edmund.
Place or Subject: Henry III granted to Edmund, his son, the honor of Derby, castles, manors and all lands and tenements which were of Robert de Ferariis [Ferrers], and the honor of Leicester and all lands and tenements with appurtenances which were of Simon de Montfort, late earl of Leicester, the king's enemies, and which passed by his forfeiture into the king's hands as the king's escheats. The now king confirms this grant for Henry, earl of Lancaster.
Additional people: Witnesses to the charter: W., bishop of Bath and Wells [Walter Giffard]; Roger de Mortimer; Roger de Clifford; Roger de Leyburn; Robert Aguillon; William de Aett' [Ayot]; Ralph de Bakepuz; Stephen de Eddewurth [Edworth]; and Bartholomew le Bygod. Witnesses to the inspeximus: W. archbishop of York, treasurer [William Melton]; J. bishop of Winchester, chancellor [John Stratford]; W. bishop of Norwich [William Airmyn[; John de Warenne, earl of Surrey; William de Monte Acuto [Montagu]; and Ralph de Neville, steward of the king's household.
