Description

Folios: 435v-436. Charters of privileges. Grant.

First party: Edward I.

Second Party: Edmund, his brother [Edmund of Lancaster].

Place or Subject: The king grants that Edmund and his heirs should have forever one fair every year at his manor of Pikeringe [Pickering], Yorks, to last three days, namely on the eve and on the feast-day and on the morrow of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, unless that fair is to the nuisance of neighbouring fairs. And they are to have forever free warren in all their demesne lands of Melebourne [Melbourne], Derbys, provided that those lands are not within the metes of the king's forest. In such a way that no one is to enter those lands to hunt therein or take anything which pertains to the warren without the licence and will of Edmund or his heirs, upon forfeiture of £10.
