Place or Subject: The king grants to the earl that he and his heirs should forever have free warren in all their demesne lands of their manors of Liverpol [Liverpool], Westderby [West Derby], Everton, Crosseby [Crosby], Wavertre [Wavertree], Salford, Bowelton, Penilton [Pendleton], Butcuhton, Swemsworth, Bourtonewod [Burtonwood] and Cherleg [Chorley], Lancs; and in all their demesne lands of their manors of Esseburn [Ashbourne], Underwod [Underwood], Bredlowe [Bradley], Offidecote, Benitleg [Bentley], Thorp, Mapelton [Mappleton], Peverwich [Pentrich], Alsop, Eyton, Huncedon, Wednesleg [Wensley], Snitterton, Hokenarton [Hognaston], Caldelawe, Crumbeford [Cromford], Mildilton [Middleton], Kertinton, Hopton, Wirkeswrth [Wirksworth], Bonteshalg, Hyrton, Mulnefeld [Milford], Matloc [Matlock], Willardesleg [Willesley], Hertindon [Hartington], Croudecote, Buestanes, Nedham, Wldon, Sternedale, Hordlowe, Heytton, Duffeld [Duffield], Alrewasseleg [Alderwasley], Beurepeir [Belper], Makeney, Winleg, Holebroc [Holbrook], Suwod, Heyheg, Corteleg, Ravendal, Holand, Newebugkinge and Scropton, Derbys; and in all their demesnes lands of their manors of Tuttebur' [Tutbury], Rolveston [Rolleston], Mertinton [Marchington], Uttokeshath [Uttoxeter], Joxhal [Yoxall], Barton [Barton under Needwood], Tatenhull [Tatenhill], Hambur' [Hanbury], Falete, Cotes, Draicote [Draycott], Horecros, Tunstall, Borsthaling, Condeleg, Certeleg [Chartley], Stowe, Weston, Huctesdon, Heywode, Ambricton and Grenleg, Staffs; provided that those lands are not within the metes of the king's forest. The king also grants to the earl that he and his heirs should have forever one market at his manor of Bowelton, Lancs, every week on a Monday, and that they should have there one fair every year to last for three days, namely on the eve and on the day and on the morrow of St Margaret the Virgin. And that they should similarly have one market at his manor of Uttokeshath [Uttoxeter], Staffs, every week on a Wednesday; and one fair there every year to last three days, namely on the eve and on the feast-day and on the morrow of the Nativity of St Mary. The king also grants to the earl and Roger, bishop of Coventry and Lichfield [Roger Weseham], that the earl and his heirs and the bishop and his successors should have forever one market at his manor of Heywod [Haywood], Staffs, every week on a Thursday; and one fair there every year to last for three days, namely on the eve and on the feast-day and on the morrow of St John the Baptist, unless those markets and fairs are a nuisance to neighbouring markets and fairs. The earl and his heirs are also to have free warren in all his demesne lands of his manors in those counties, provided that those lands are not within the metes of the king's forest.
