Folios: 427-427v. Charters of privileges. Grant of Edward III of liberties to Henry, son of Henry, late earl of Lancaster.
First party: Edward III.
Second Party: Henry, earl of Lancaster, the king's kinsman, son and heir of Henry, late earl of Lancaster.
Place or Subject: The king, by his charter, granted to Henry, then earl of Lancaster, diverse liberties and quittances, to have to him and his heirs in tail in all his lands and fees forever. On account that the Henry, now earl of Lancaster, has handed over that charter to be cancelled in Chancery, etc, the king, wishing to show special grace to the present earl, has granted to him that he is to have all and singular liberties and quittances, contained in the said charter, in all the lands and fees, which he now possesses, and he is to enjoy them for the whole of his life. Namely that he and all his men are to be quit from pavage, passage, payage, lastage, stallage, tallage, carriage, pesage, pickage and land-tax throughout the whole realm, and also that the earl is to have the return of all the king's writs and those of his heirs and the summons of his Exchequer and that of his heirs, and attachments both from pleas of the crown and also from any others in all his lands and fees.
