Folios: 425v-426. Charters of privileges. Inspeximus by Edward I of a writ of Henry III regarding a grant made to Edmund, earl of Lancaster, brother of the now king, the writ being dated at Lincoln on 18 Aug 52 Hen. III.
First party: Edward I.
Place or Subject: Henry III granted to Edmund, his son, the honor of Lancaster with all homages, wards, reliefs, escheats, rents and all other things pertaining to that honor, to have to him and his heirs in tail forever. Henry III commanded the sheriffs of Norfolk, Suffolk, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Rutland and Staffordshire and all other sheriffs and stewards, in whose bailiwicks the honor of Lancaster is, that they in no way interfere in that honor or in the men of that honor or any others belonging to that honor, or that they allow their bailiffs to interfere, etc, unless they are requested by Edmund's bailiffs.
