Place or Subject: Having regard to the earl's service in the king's expedition of war in the duchy of Aquitaine and adjacent parts and his costs therein, the king grants to the earl the castle, vill and place of Brageriaci [Bergerac], diocese of Perigord, which the earl, lately the king's lieutenant in his duchy of Aquitaine, recently took by force, arms and by a very brave assault.
