Description

Folios: 412v-413. Earldom of Richmond. Quitclaim.

First party: John de Monte Forti [Montfort], duke of Brittany and count of Montfort.

Second Party: John de Gandavo [Gaunt], the king's son, now earl of Richmond.

Place or Subject: Whereas Edward III had granted the earldom of Richemund [Richmond] to John de Gandavo [John of Gaunt], his son, and the honor, castles, manors, lands and tenements and all other places pertaining to the earldom, to hold in tail, with all liberties, etc, the duke has remised, released and forever quitclaimed to John all his right and claim in that earldom, honor, castles, manors, lands, tenements and places, together with fees, advowsons and all other the said things, wheresoever in the realm of England they may be, and all actions, both real and personal, etc.
