Second Party: The knights, freemen and all other tenants of the earldom of Richemund [Richmond].
Place or Subject: To raise and make provision for his son, Edward III appointed John as earl of Richemund [Richmond] and granted to him the earldom and castles, manors, lands, tenements and all other places pertaining to it. The king commands the people to be attendant and answerable to the earl for their homages, fealties and other services, just as the custom is.
Additional people: (witnesses) Edward, duke of Cornwall and earl of Chester, the king's son, keeper of England [Edward of Woodstock].
