Place or Subject: The king grants to God, St Mary, the church of Rievall [Rievaulx] and the monks serving God there, for the soul of Henry, his grandfather, and for the souls of his father and mother and brothers, and his own soul and those of his sons, in free, pure and perpetual alms, the whole of his waste and pasture below Pikeryngam [Pickering] with all appurtenances in meadows, pastures, waters, fisheries and mills and in all other things by the metes and boundaries by which the wapentake of Pikerynglid [Pickering Lythe] is recognised, namely whatever is between Alverstanberch and Thaermelyng in length, except the meadow in Edynmersch, by these boundaries, namely from the place where Alinstanbech falls into Derwent, just as the Derwent runs as far as the place where Ria [Rye] falls into the Derwent; and then to where Costa [Costa Beck] falls into Ria [Rye], and then by Costa [Costa Beck] as far as Takeringlyng; and then by Takeryngling as far as the ditch of the monks; and then by the same ditch, as it goes around Lund and falls into Costa [Costa Beck], and then by Costa [Costa Beck] to the north down to the place where Kiptoftisichs falls into Costa [Costa Beck]; and then as Kiptoftissich heads to Midsich as far as Thornetonbech, where it falls into Midsich; and then by Thornetonbech to the north as fas as the ditch, which runs by the field of Theokemar; and then by the same ditch as far as Blastam; and then by the sike, which is there, as far as Midsich; and then as Midsich descends into Alvestambech; and then as Alvestambech goes down into the Derwent.
