Second Party: The house of Semplingham [Sempringham].
Place or Subject: The king has received into his hands, custody, protection and defence the house of Sempringham and all houses of the same order, namely Chikesand [Chicksands], Catteleya [Catley], Lincoln, Bolington [Bullington], Sixla [Sixhills], Ormesby [North Ormsby], Alvyngham [Alvingham], Novo Loco [Newstead], Watton, Malton, St Andrew of York, Marseya [?Mattersey], Clatercote [Clattercote], Ponte Aslaci, Holand Brigg [Bridge End], Merleberge [Marlborough] and Suldeham [Shouldham], with all members pertaining to those houses, and the master of the order and all priors, canons, nuns and brothers of that order and their men and servants, lands and possessions, and their property, demesne and spiritual, and free alms. The king orders that they are to hold all their tenements well and in peace, freely, quietly, entirely, fully and honourably, in wood, plain, meadows, pastures, waters, fisheries, fishponds, 'strem and strond', marshes, forests, mills, pools, tofts, crofts, yardlands, ways and paths. And they are to be quit, both they and their men, in all places throughout England and Normandy of toll, pontage, passage, pedage, lastage, stallage, hidage, carriage, wards and works of castles, bridges, parks, walls and ditches, and taxes and tributes, amercements of the forest, fines for straying animals, regard and waste, in all places in the marsh of Kestevene [Kesteven] and Hoiland [Holland], and in Notinghamshire [Nottinghamshire] and Everwykshire [Yorkshire], in Witlewode [Whittlewood] and in Westmorland throughout the whole forest of Malrestang [Mallerstang], and from all gelds, danegelds, woodgeld, fengeld, horngeld, footgeld, 'penigeld', 'thedingpeny', 'hundredespeny', miskenning, chevage, 'heuedpeny', 'bukstall' and trist, and all amercements, forfeitures, aids, wapentakes and other things [details given].
