Folios: 245-246. County of Yorkshire. Pleas of the forest of Henry, earl of Lancaster, of Pikeryng [Pickering], held at Pickering before Richard de Wylughby [Willoughby], Robert de Hungerford and John de Hambury, justices itinerant on this occasion assigned to take pleas of the said forest in Yorkshire: Regard of the forest of Henry, earl of Lancaster, of Pikeryng [Pickering]:
John the cook: John made a certain assart in Cropton outside the lordship in the fee of Thomas Wake, and it contains in itself 6 acres, and it grows oats, but is worth nothing because it was rented at another time in the last eyre, namely each acre at 6d.
Hugh son of Sibbe: Hugh holds a certain assart in the said pasture from the said old place outside the lordship in the fee of Thomas Wake, and it contains in itself two acres, which William de Cropton assarted, and it grows crops in summer and pertains to the vill of Cropton.
William, son of William de Blaberyrwa: William made a certain assart in Hartoft outside the lordship in the fee of Thomas Wake, and it contains in itself four acres, and it grows summer crops, but is worth nothing because it was rented at another time in the last eyre, namely each acre at 9d.
Hugh, son of Hugh Lambe: Hugh made a certain assart in Cropton in a place called Flaskes outside the lordship in the fee of Thomas Wake, and it contains in itself 12½ acres, and grows crops of oats, but is worth nothing because at another time it was rented in the last eyre, each acre at 12d.
Hugh Loungchaumpe: Hugh made a certain assart in the pasture of Cropton in a place called Flaskes outside the lordship in the fee of Thomas Wake, and it contains in itself 8½ acres of land, and grows summer crops, but is worth nothing because at another time it was rented in the last eyre, namely each are at 7d.
William de Cropton: William made a certain assart in the said pasture from old, namely in a place called Hartoft, outside the lordship in the fee of Thomas Wake, and it contains in itself 2 acres, and it grows summer crops, but is worth nothing because it was rented otherwise in the last eyre, namely each acre at 3d.
William le Cartere of Hartoft: William made a certain assart in the said pasture of old, namely in Hartoft, outside the lordship in the fee of Thomas Wake, and it contains in itself four acres, and it grows summer crops, but is worth nothing because it was rented otherwise in the last eyre, namely each acre at 7d.
Stephen Hare: Stephen made a certain assart in the said pasture from old, namely in Hartoft, outside the lordship in the fee of Thomas Wake, and it contains in itself 6 acres of land, and it grows summer crops, but is worth nothing because it is rented otherwise in the last eyre, namely each acre at 12d.
Richard Mody: Richard made a certain assart in Cropton, namely in a place called Haretoft [Hartoft], outside the lordship in the fee of Thomas Wake, and it contains in itself 6 acres, and it grows summer crops ten times, but is worth nothing because it was otherwise rented in the last eyre, namely each acre at 14d.
Robert, son of Richard Mody: Robert has made a certain assart in the said pasture in a place called Haretoft [Hartoft], outside the lordshp in the fee of Thomas Wake, and it contains in itself three acres, and grows summer crops ten times, but is worth nothing because it was rented otherwise in the last eyre, namely each acre at 6d.
Elias Pyncherwa: Elias made a certain assart in the said pasture in a place called Haretoft [Hartoft], outside the lordship in the fee of Thomas Wake, and it contains in itself three acres, and it grows summer crops, but is worth nothing because it was rented at another time in the last eyre, namely each acre at 3d.
Thomas, father of Elias Pyncheware: Thomas has made an assart in the said pasture in a place called Haretoft [Hartoft], outside the lordship in the fee of Thomas Wake, and it contains in itself one acre of land, and grows summer crops, but is worth nothing because it was rented in the last eyre, namely each acre at 9d.
Robert called Hobbe of Synelyngton [Sinnington]: Robert made a certain assart anew in Synelyngton [Sinnington] in a place called Manithornes, outside the lordship in the fee of Roger Bygot [Bigod], and it contains in itself two acres, and grows summer crops 27 times, the price of an acre 2s. Sum total 110s.
John son of Christiana: John has made a certain assart in the said pasture, namely in Haretoft [Hartoft], outside the lordship in the fee of Thomas Wake, and it contains in itself one acre, and grows summer crops ten times, but is worth nothing because it was rented otherwise in the last eyre, namely at 3½d.
William son of Ivo: At a time before the last eyre William made a certain sheepfold at Neuland [Cloughton Newlands] in the field of Claghton [Cloughton], and because to was too near to the forest and contrary to the assize of the same, it was considered then that it should be destroyed, and now Ralph, son of the said William de Cloghton [Cloughton] still holds that after it was built.
Hugh Souter: 22 years ago, Hugh made a certain close in Haretoft [Hartoft] outside the lordship in the fee of Thomas Wake, and it contains in itself 6 acres of land, and it pertains to the vill of Cropton. Three acres of which are mown once, the price of the crop of each acre 10d a year, and the rest does not grow crops, nor did so, but each acre is worth 4d a year. Sum total 50s 6d. For which John de Brauncedale will answer, and the land is to be taken into the hands, etc, and John is in mercy, etc.
John de Brauncedale: In this year John made a certain close in Haretoft [Hartoft] outside the lordship in the fee of Thomas Wake, and it contains in itself one acre and a half of land, and it pertains to the vill of Cropton, and does not and did not grow crops, and each acre is worth 4d a year. Sum total 6d. For which John de Brauncedale will answer, and John is in mercy, etc.
