Folios: 198v-199. County of Yorkshire. Indenture of lease.
First party: William de Skargyll [Scargill], steward of the earl of Derby in the honor of Pountfreint [Pontefract], and John Gynewell, steward of the lands of the said earl.
Second party: Henry de Clif.
Place or subject: The demesne lands pertaining to the manor of Berley [Barlow] from Michaelmas 17 Edw III for 7 years next following, namely 279 acres, one rood of land, the price of an acre 8d, sum £9 6s 2d. 34 acres, one rood of meadow, the price of an acre 3s 4d, sum 114s 2d. 25 acres of pasture, the price of an acre 6d, sum 12s 6d, and the herbage of the garden and dovecote, worth 20s, sum £16 12s 10d, to be paid from year to year to the receiver of Pountfreint [Pontefract] to the earl at Pentecost and Martinmas during the term of 7 years, together with other commons for his beasts of his plough and his sheep.
