Folio: 193. County of Yorkshire. Composition concerning the office of keeper of the forest of Pikering [Pickering].
First party: Roger le Bigot [Bigod], earl of Norfolk and marshal of England.
Second party: Edmund, son of Henry III.
Place or subject: Roger seeks from Edmund the custody of the bailiwick which he had within Edmund's forest of Pikering [Pickering], which was in Edmund's hands by occasion of certain trespasses made by the same earl and his ministers both of hunting and greenwood and other matters within the said bailiwick, to the damage of the said Edmund. At length the Earl Marshal made fine for the trespasses and for having the custody again with Edmund for £100 of sterling, for which he made security to him. And Edmund handed over and granted the said bailiwick to the earl.
