Description

Folios: 189v-190. County of Yorkshire. Indenture.

First party: William Tod of Elweton [Elloughton], Yorkshire, and John Kyng of Barton [Barton upon Humber], Lincolnshire.

Place or subject: Whereas William Tod of Elweton [Elloughton], Yorkshire, and John Kyng of Barton [Barton upon Humber], Lincolnshire, by a certain letter of obligation are bound to Godfrey Foulchamp [Foljambe], steward of the duke of Lancaster, William Bugbrigg', treasurer of the same duke, and Walter Frost, burgess of Kyngeston upon Hull [Kingston upon Hull], in £10 of sterling, payable on the 21st day next following after Easter next to come after the date of this indenture, Godfrey, William and Walter wish and grant for themselves, their heirs and executors that if Nicholas Tod of Barton, mariner, brother of the said William Tod, or anyone else in his name at any time, at Pentecost next to come after the date of this indenture, comes at London before the council of the said duke, and by faithful testimony proves there that he, before Hugh Fastolf of Jernemuth [Great Yarmouth], sub-admiral of the king, had been quit and discharged of all insults or accusations to be imposed in some way about a certain ship of Craumer [Cromer], in which victuals of the said duke had been lately loaded, that then the said letter of obligation was to be quashed and be regarded as null in the future.
