Description

Folios: 160v-161. Northumberland. Confirmation of liberties.

First party: Henry III.

Second party: Simon de Montefort [Montfort], earl of Leicester.

Place or subject: Whereas Hereward de Marisco and Rametta, his wife, granted to Simon de Montefort [Montfort], earl of Leicester, the whole barony of Emeledon [Embleton], which descended to Rametta by right of inheritance from the inheritance which was of John le Vescunt [Viscount], her father, and which he held of the king in chief, with homages and services of freemen, villeins and their services, and all lands and tenements pertaining to the said barony in Emeledon [Embleton], Dunstan, Staunford [Stamford], Burton, Baumburg' [Bamburgh] and elsewhere in the said county, together with all other lands and tenements which were of Rametta in the same county. To have to the earl and his heirs forever of the king and his heirs and other chief lords of that fee with all wards, releifs and escheats, which could fall in, doing for this to the king and his heirs and other chief lords of that fee the services thereupon due.
