Description

Folios: 130v-131. County of Lancaster. Copies of charters by which diverse liberties are claimed in this eyre: Inspeximus of the following charters: 1. Grant by William, Earl Warenne, count of Boulogne and Mortain, to God and the monks of St Mary of Forneux [Furness]. 2. Charter of John, count of Mortain to God and the said monks. 3. Charter of Henry III, confirming the aforesaid grants.

First party: Edmund, son of Henry III.

Second party: [Furness abbey].

Place or subject: 1. The Earl Warenne grants to God and the monks of St Mary of Forneux [Furness] in perpetual alms that they might accept in his forest of Lancaster material and other things which are necessary to their uses, and namely at their fishery of Lancaster, to do whatever will be necessary for this. 2. John, count of Mortain grants to God and the said monks in pure alms that they should take in his forest of Lancaster material and others things necessary for their uses, as above in the first charter. 3. Henry III's confirmation of the aforesaid charters.
