Description

Folios: 92-92v. County of Lancaster. Indenture.

First party: Henry de Lancaster, earl of Derby.

Second party: William de Bracebrigge [Bracebridge] and Maud, his wife.

Place or subject: William de Waleton, father of the said Maud, leased to the said earl his manor of Ulneswaltone [Ulnes Walton], with all the lands, tenements, rents and services and appurtenances, for the term of his life, paying £50 a year at the feasts of Easter and Michaelmas in equal portions. The said William de Bracebrigge and Maud, his wife, after the death of the said William de Waltone were to make a feoffment to the said earl and his heirs of the said manor, which they have by descent or inheritance from the said William, together with all lands which Emma, formerly the wife of Adam de Waltone, held in dower. The said earl was to pay to the said William de Bracebrigg' and Maud after the death of the said William de Walton £40 of sterling a year. The said earl grants that, if William de Bracebrigge and Maud accomplish all the said convenants in all points, then the letter of account made by them is to be null and completely of no force.
