Description

Folios: 66-66v. County of Lancaster. Grant.

First party: John de Garenne [Warenne], earl of Surrey and Sussex.

Second party: Thomas, earl of Lancaster.

Place or subject: Whereas Thomas, earl of Lancaster, demands by writ in the king's court against Lady Joan, late the wife of Richard Foliot, the wardship of the body of Richard, son and heir of the said Richard, the said John, earl of Surrey and Sussex demands the same wardship against her. The earl of Surrey grants that the said Richard Foliot, father of the said Richard, whose heir he is, and his ancestors should hold of the said earl of Lancaster and his predecessors, earls of Lincoln, and their ancestors, the manors of Norton Stubbes [Norton], Askern and Moseleye with the appurtenances. Also mentions the manors of Gressenale [Gressenhall], Lexham, Wasenam [Weasenham] and Ansing.
