First party: Edward [Edward of Woodstock], son of the king of England and France, prince of Wales, duke of Cornwall and earl of Chester.
Place or subject: Whereas the earl of Chester has, by his letters patent dated 10 Dec 47 Edw III, granted to his brother John [John of Gaunt], king of Castile and Leon, and duke of Lancaster, 100 marks to be received each year during his life in his Exchequer of Chester, and in these no mention is made of the terms of the payment of the same, nevetheless the earl wishes that that he shall have and receive the same annuity in the future in the same Exchequer for the term of his life at the terms of Easter and St Michael in equal portions.
