Part 2, Folios 126-129. A lengthy letter dated at London from Lord Danby to the Prince of Orange. Danby, after thanking the Prince for his confidence in him, praises van Dyckvelt of whom he writes that the Prince 'could have employed nobody here who would have been more agreeable to the well-wishers in this county' and 'with all the satisfaction that could have been wished to those with whom he has concoursed concerning your Highness (of which both the numbers and qualities has been very considerable) his chief business having been to give assurances of your Highness's great firmness in the Protestant religion and to make known not only your wishes but endeavours that no alterations may be made amongst us otherwise than by Parliament and as our laws direct'. Danby writes he was willing to talk much more freely to van Dyckvelt than he would have done had Lord Halifax not told him of the degree of confidence that the Prince has in van Dyckvelt but informs the Prince that, finding Lord Halifax unwilling to inform van Dyckvelt of some things 'which are not very proper to be written', he 'thought it less prudent' to tell van Dyckvelt all that he wished the Prince to be truly informed of. Danby says he writes this with the least reflection on Lord Halifax 'but to show our unhappiness who dare not by second hands speak what were necessary for your knowledge'.
