Part 2, Folios 3-4. Letter dated at Whitehall from [Laurence Hyde] Earl of Rochester to the Prince of Orange relating the King's reaction to the Prince's letter in favour of Lieutenant-Colonel [Philip] Babington. Rochester also writes that before Monsieur Overkirke [Henry, Count of Nassau, Lord of Overkirk] left, Overkirk showed him the Prince's last dispatch which Rochester, on seeing that saw Overkirk was directed to show 'to those that he took to be' the Prince's servants, took the liberty to give his advice very freely upon it, which he hopes the Prince will forgive, since it was with a good intention and to prevent anything to be taken ill, which he was afraid might have been the consequence if Overkirk had exposed all that the Prince had written'.
